Football quarterfinal playoff preview capsules

Class 4A

No. 2 Harvard (11-0) vs. No. 6 Rockford Lutheran (10-1)

When: 1 p.m. Saturday

Where: At Guilford High School

About the Hornets: Harvard set the school record for victories in a season with its 56-16 win against Chicago King in the second round. RB Christian Kramer has 1,133 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns, while FB Jose Mejia has 818 yards and 13 TDs. WR Justin Nolen leads the Hornets with 47 receptions for 699 yards, and QB Peyton Schneider has thrown for 1,025 yards with 11 TDs and three interceptions.

About the Crusaders: Lutheran is led by dynamic RB James Robinson, a 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore who has 2,360 yards rushing and 41 touchdowns. QB Kendall Lawson has thrown for 1,760 yards and 18 TDs. WR Zach Zanello leads the Crusaders with 28 catches for 455 yards.

Up next: The winner advances to the semifinals against the winner of No. 4 Geneseo (10-1) at No. 9 Chicago Phillips (8-3).

Class 6A

No. 14 Prairie Ridge (7-4) vs. No. 1 Boylan (11-0)

When: 1 p.m. Saturday

Where: Titan Stadium, Rockford

About the Wolves: Prairie Ridge rallied for a last-minute touchdown to beat Marmion, 21-20, in the second round for its fifth consecutive victory. The Wolves have kicked in their offense over that stretch, led by QB Brett Covalt (875 yards rushing), RB Brent Anderson (715) and FB Zack Greenberg (668). The Wolves missed the playoffs last season, but have won seven straight playoff games with their 2011 Class 6A state championship.

About the Titans: Boylan is 50-1 since the 2010 season with state titles in 2010 and 2011. The Titans are the last team to beat Prairie Ridge in the playoffs, handing the Wolves a 14-7 loss in the 2010 semifinals. QB Demry Croft has thrown for 1,546 yards with 15 TDs and two interceptions. He also has run for 571 yards. WR Brock Stull has 43 catches for 531 yards to lead the team in receiving.

Up next: The winner advances to the semifinals against the winner between No. 6 Lake Forest (9-2) at No. 2 Batavia (10-1).
