Former Crystal Lake youth hockey player inks deal with Blackhawks

The Blackhawks signed first-round draft pick and former Crystal Lake Leafs player Ryan Hartman to a three-year contract on Monday.

Hartman, who grew up in West Dundee, is in his second season with the Ontario Hockey League's Plymouth Whalers and has a team-best 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) in 20 games this season. Hartman has registered at least one point in 13 games this season.

"(It) definitely feels great (to sign)," Hartman wrote in a text message Monday afternoon. "I'm glad I got it done finally."

Hartman joined the Whalers after producing 76 points (38 goals, 38 assists) with the U.S. National Team Development Program.

Terms of the deal were not announced by the Blackhawks.
