Centegra gets in-person counselor for ACA
McHENRY – Centegra Health System recently brought in Mark Millare as an in-person counselor for the Affordable Care Act.
He will be fully trained and certified as an in-person counselor by the end of November, according to a news release from the hospital.
Millare’s position was funded by a grant from the McHenry County Department of Health to conduct outreach, education and enrollment for “Enroll McHenry County” as part of the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace.
Millare will help patients and community members enroll in the marketplace and Medicaid expansion programs. His office is located at Centegra Hospital-McHenry, however he will visit any Centegra campus when needed. Millare also will participate in community events and work closely with the McHenry County Department of Health.
The county’s $500,000, one-year federal grant is provided through the Illinois Department of Public Health by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In-person counselors will help consumers understand coverage options, determine eligibility and enroll in new affordable health insurance plans.
Residents may enroll through the marketplace at www.healthcare.gov through March 31 with coverage beginning as early as Jan. 1.
Agencies interested in hosting outreach activities should contact the McHenry County Department of Health at 815-334-4510 or Centegra Health System at 815-759-4988.
It is estimated that 32,058 of McHenry County residents younger than 65 years of age are uninsured, according to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau.
The Affordable Care Act includes expansion of insurance coverage to all adults, free preventive care, equality of mental health and medical coverage and no insurance denials for those with pre-existing conditions.
