Beautiful ceremony

To the Editor:

Thank you, Crystal Lake South! We were honored to attend CLS’s Veterans Day program this year, and want to thank the students, staff, principal, District 155 school board and superintendent, VFW Post 12014 Color Guard, band, chorus, pianist and soloist for a very beautiful ceremony.

The video presentation was wonderfully put together, the bag piper playing “Amazing Grace” was profoundly moving, and the sight of the student body waving flags to “God Bless the USA” brought tears to many eyes. It was a great way to thank the veterans who were present, honor the active duty members of the military, and to remember our fallen heroes.

We were happy to say our two active-duty sons had graduated from a school with such a respectful student body. Most of these young people have not personally been touched by the ravages of this 12-year war, but had the sympathy, understanding and appreciation to show respect that made them seem older than their years.

Thank you again, CLS, for a very touching ceremony that we hope will become an annual event!
