UNION – The McHenry County Historical Society will unveil a storefront window display of vintage holiday items from the 1940s to the 1960s as part of an open house on Saturday.
The free open house lasts from 1 to 4 p.m. at the society's museum, 6422 Main St., Union.
Board member Dave Harms and Marengo antique dealer Lynn Eltrevoog helped create the storefront display. It features a working Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer radio from 1951, a 1947 Daisy Red Ryder BB gun and an assortment of other vintage sporting goods and games.
Residents also can view an old-fashioned Christmas tree lot and see a vintage Salvation Army uniform. Residents can make old-fashioned ornaments and enjoy hot cider and Christmas cookies during the open house.
Following the event, the holiday display will remain up for viewing during the afternoons, Tuesdays through Fridays, until Jan. 10.
