McHenry Public Library to host magic show, 'White Christmas' singalong

McHENRY – The McHenry Public Library has a slew of programs and holiday-themed events lined up for December, including:

• “Have a Merry Frugal Christmas,” a class for adults ages 18 and older on how to keep Christmas costs reasonable, scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

• Puzzle club family drop-in from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Open to all ages. No registration required.

• “White Christmas” movie and singalong with hot chocolate from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 15. For ages 8 and older.

• Holiday program with Parent Choice Award winner Susan Solidor will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18. Santa will be available for photos. Cost is $1 a child.

• Writer’s group from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Dec. 23. No registration required. Writers looking to share should bring six copies of their work.

• Magic show with Gary Kantor for kids ages 4 and older from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Dec. 27. A workshop for kids ages 5 to 12 follows from 2 to 3 p.m.
