Snow is likely to hit McHenry County this afternoon, according to forecasts.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for northern Illinois and northwest Indiana, warning that snow Sunday afternoon may be followed by freezing drizzle.

About an inch is expected for most of the Chicago metropolitan area with up to 3 inches of snow possible for areas north of Interstate 88. No ice accumulation is forecasted.

Temperatures Sunday night are expected to hit lows of 16 to 20, dropping further to 1 to 5 degrees above zero Monday night.

West winds of 10 to 15 mph could create wind chills of 5 to 15 degrees below zero.
