Kind grocery gesture

To the Editor:

A few weeks ago, I was with my father shopping at Jewel in Spring Grove.

Because he says “hi” to everyone, they all know him. He proudly wears his WWII/POW hat. He turned 94 Dec. 7. He uses a cane, is blind in one eye, but he has all his wits. He knows what the date is before I do.

A kindly gesture, a grocery shopper told one of the cashiers that she wanted to put some money toward my dad’s groceries. I was still shopping, and my dad was sitting on the bench near the cashiers, enjoying the people go by.

I don’t know who did this, but I am hoping the person reads this. It had me in tears. What a beautiful gift from the heart. Thank you so much.
