ELGIN – The Elgin Community College Faculty Association and the Elgin Community College board of trustees negotiating teams reached a tentative agreement Thursday on a new three-year contract.

Negotiations began in early September. The current contract expires Dec. 31.

Lori Clark, communications liaison for union negotiators, said both teams worked hard for a settlement and they were happy to have reached a tentative agreement before the expiration of the previous agreement.

The union membership will schedule a meeting to ratify the agreement, which will be followed by final ratification by the college board.

Both sides agreed not to release contract details until the tentative agreement is ratified by both parties.
