ALGONQUIN – Cary-Grove junior guard Jason Gregoire displayed his aggressive nature in a good way Monday at Jacobs’ Hinkle Holiday Classic.

Gregoire, who felt he had struggled with his outside shot, attacked the basket and was rewarded with a 36-point performance as the Trojans defeated Jefferson, 59-50, in their Pool II game at the Eagles’ Nest.

Gregoire was 14 of 16 from the free-throw line while netting his career-high in points. C-G is 4-6 overall, 1-1 in Pool II.

“I did a good job being aggressive and going to the basket,” Gregoire said. “I got a lot of free throws, it wasn’t like I was making a living on 3-pointers.”

Gregoire his two 3sand had two other 3-point plays and scored half of his points in C-G’s 25-point fourth quarter.

“We’ve been struggling, we really needed this win,” Trojans coach Ralph Schuetzle said. “Jason kind of went on a roll and started attacking the basket and getting fouled. We seemed to get more confident as the game went on.”
