Freezing rain advisory in effect until 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for much of northern Illinois, including McHenry County.

The freezing rain advisory has been extended until 4 p.m. According to the forecast, freezing drizzle is expected to develop late this morning.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use caution while driving.

Multiple accidents have been reported on Rakow Road. One car in the westbound lane west of Pingree Road was turned around with police blocking the lane. Another car was stuck on the median where Rakow Road and Randall Road meet.
