CHICAGO — A 19-year-old suburban Chicago man is expected to appear in court after being charged with first-degree murder for the Christmas Eve shooting death of a pregnant teenager.

Darius D. Marshall is the third person charged in the slaying of 17-year-old Eva Casara. He's also accused of attempted armed robbery and turned himself in to authorities.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports he's expected in a Markham courtroom Thursday morning. His lawyer told the newspaper Marshall plans to plead not guilty.

Already facing charges of first-degree murder are 16-year-old Anthony Lee and 21-year-old Diante Lamont Coakley. Authorities say Casara was shot in Dolton when a drug deal went wrong.

Casara was 5 1/2 months pregnant. Her baby survived, but is struggling for life in a hospital.
