Harvard officer honored

Harvard Police Department Officer Dean Burton was named the 2013 Officer of the Year by the McHenry County Chiefs of Police Association.

Burton received the honor on Saturday during the association’s holiday reception.

Earlier in the year, Burton saved the life of a young man whom he found unresponsive and not breathing, according to a news release. Burton started CPR and the man’s pulse returned.

The other nominees for the officer of the year award included: Algonquin Officer Mark Zahara, Algonquin Detective Paul Krystal, Algonquin Detective Tim Wilkin, Lake in the Hills Officer Christina Busby, Lake in the Hills Officer Randy Story, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Michael Flannery, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Detective Michelle Asplund, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Detective Chris Jones and Woodstock Detective Robby Branum.
