WOODSTOCK - A McHenry man has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for inappropriate contact with a minor.

Woodstock police said they began an investigation in December and joined with the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Woodstock Child Advocacy Center to complete it.

As a result of the investigation Gonzalo Ramirez, 62, 713 N. Mill St., was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse – a Class 2 felony that carries a potential sentence of four to seven years in prison.

Woodstock Police took Ramirez into custody at the Woodstock Police Department on Monday after cooperating with Woodstock detectives, police said.

Ramirez was taken to McHenry County Jail Tuesday morning where he remains in custody.
