Another law?

To the Editor:

I’d like to respond to an article in “State Briefs” on Jan 24.

Chicago Democratic Sen. Ira Silverstein said he wants a law against smoking in a car where there are children. Really? Is that all you have to work on, what people do on their own time in their own vehicles?

Are you so perfect in your own life that you can pick apart what other people do just because you personally don’t like it? How much money do you make? This is all you can come up with?

Since you have so much time on your hands, how about coming up with a way to find missing kids, or helping the homeless, or raising minimum wage so families, especially with kids, don’t have to live in poverty?

Answer this question: How did George Burns live to be 101? He smoked cigars all his life but never had 1 ounce of cancer in his body.

Are you still going to blame smoking on the death of every human being who smoked? Get out of this tunnel vision that you’re in. You just might find that you’d be a much happier person keeping your nose out of everybody else’s business.
