Two people in critical condition after crash near Woodstock

Two women are in critical condition after a head-on collision Saturday near Woodstock.

The two-vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of Alden Road and McCauley Road in unincorporated Hartland Township, near Woodstock, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's office news release .

A Chevrolet Blazer and a Honda CRV were traveling in opposite directions on Alden Road at approximately 10:08 a.m. when the vehicles collided. Weather and roadway conditions are suspected as a factor in the crash, the release said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Ardene Raven, 77, was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital where she is in critical condition. The driver of the Honda, Vicki Rodriguez, 47, was transported to St. Anthony's Medical Center in Rockford where she was also listed in critical condition, the release said.

Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash, according to the release, but the usage of safety restraints is still under investigation.

The Harvard Police Department, the Woodstock Fire Protection District, and the Harvard Fire Protection District also responded to the crash.
