To the Editor:
If President Obama wants to issue an executive order, I have a suggestion.
The order should be written to change the shooting by Nidal Hasan at Fort Hood in Texas from an act of workplace violence to an act of terrorism.
My understanding of our Constitution, the president can override the Department of Justice’s definition of that Texas massacre with a stroke of a pen.
My son-in-law has served our U.S. Army for the past eight years at Fort Hood. There are men and women who deserve the Purple Heart and the benefits that go with that award as a result of that terrorist act. He and others at Fort Hood would agree with that executive order.
As a descendent of a man who fought in the American Revolution, I stand with those who want this issue resolved for the benefit of those who willingly serve to preserve our nation.
