Railroad crossing back up in Huntley

Railroad gates are back up and working at Main St. and Rt. 47 in Huntley. An unknown malfunction caused them to stick in the down position Tuesday morning, said Michael Klunk, deputy chief of Huntley Police.

There was a significant traffic jam and vehicles were diverted away from the crossing.

Klunk said the gates went back up on their own, without Union-Pacific showing up to fix them. Huntley police were still waiting for a maintenance crew as of 2:50 p.m. to diagnose what went wrong.
