Harvard man arrested for violation of sex offender act

A 30-year-old Harvard man was charged with a violation of the Illinois Sex Offender Act and an unlawful failure to register charge.

According to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Vodnansky of Harvard was charged as the result of an investigation by the sheriff's office Criminal Investigations Division. The Criminal Investigations Division obtained information that Vodnansky was a member of a social media website and was utilizing the Internet to access a social media site without disclosing it when registering as required by law, according to the release.

It was then determined that Vodnansky was residing at an apartment in the 1400 block of Northfield Ct., when he had reported to the sheriff's office that was was homeless during the registration process.

The unlawful failure to register charge is a Class 3 felony, while the violation of the sex offender act is a Class 4 felony.

Vodnansky's bond was set at $35,000 and his next court date is Thursday.
