Can’t afford Provenzano

To the Editor:

With the primary election coming up, most of us need to get educated on the candidates and their backgrounds.

Recently, I received a mailing from county clerk candidate Nick Provenzano touting his credentials and endorsements. I decided to research Mr. Provenzano, and am glad I did.

Mr. Provenzano is currently on two taxpayer-funded payrolls (the McHenry County Board and Congressman Randy Hultgren) and is earning two separate pensions. Members of his immediate family are (or recently have been) on taxpayer-funded payrolls. Should he win this election, one of his pensions will balloon to almost $100,000 a year.

Given his double-dipping, I do not believe he has the requisite composition to lead us in a new direction. McHenry County cannot afford Mr. Provenzano as the county clerk. Clean government and free, fair elections are simply too important.
