Bates: McHenry Area Chamber prepares for annual expo

The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for a busy month packed with events.

It will hold a Bring Your Lunch N’ Learn from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chamber Office, 1257 N. Green St. Steve Smith of CubeJumpers L.P. will discuss how the death of Windows XP will affect your business. The event is free, but registration is required at the chamber’s website, www.mchenrychamber.com.

The McHenry Area Chamber’s next “Never Eat Alone” Luncheon will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Firewood Grille, 2314 W. Route 120, McHenry. Participants must arrive by noon. The $12 price includes tax, tip and a nonalcoholic beverage. The lunch buffet includes French onion soup bread bowl with salad bar; bread bowl soup of the day with salad bar; chicken and bacon California croissant; or a build your own burger or chicken sandwich option. All are welcome to attend the McHenry Area Chamber’s Life is a Journey Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at McHenry High School West Campus, 4724 W. Crystal Lake Road. It is sponsored by Bjorkman’s Ace Hardware, Centegra Health System and the Northwest Herald. It is an expo within an expo, featuring roads such as Automotive Highway, Business to Business Boulevard, Childrens Court, Financial Frontage, Health & Fitness Fairway, Home Highway, Leisure Lane, Pet Parkway, Senior Street and Woman’s Walkway.

The Coupon Queen will give a super couponing presentation from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Animal Adventures Show is at 11:30 a.m. The Flatland Bikes Stunt Show by Ketch Bikes is at 12:30 p.m. Entertainment by “4 Strings Attached” by the Martin Lopez Academy will be at 2:30 p.m. There also will be inflatables, face painting and free popcorn.

The next after-hours mixer will be from 5 to 7 p.m. March 18 at Chain O’ Lakes Brewing Co., at the corner of Green and Pearl streets in McHenry. There will be food, beer, fun and plenty of networking. Don’t forget your business cards.

The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce invites women to attend the WINGs (Women’s Interactive Networking Group) “Woman of Accomplishment” luncheon featuring Nancy Tunberg, vice president/branch manager of First Midwest Bank. It will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. March 19 at 31 North Banquet & Conference Center, 217 N. Route 31, McHenry.  

The event will focus on just one of our many woman leaders in McHenry County. What better way to grow than to learn from a high achieving woman? Tunberg will discuss how she handled obstacles and difficulties at each new level of success. The deadline for reservations is 5 p.m. March 17. Reservations can be made at the chamber’s website. The cost is $28 for chamber members and $33 for nonmembers. Tables for promotional items will be available, so bring your information.
