County government stale

Published: Friday, March 14, 2014 8:31 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

As a 32-year resident of McHenry County, I have become increasingly aware of the importance of staying informed about county government, more so since a longtime friend encouraged me to get involved and become a candidate for committeeman.

This county government has become stale because of long-entrenched officials protective of their positions and alliances to the exclusion of newcomers to the game. The strength of any organization, be it a small business, a large corporation or a government entity, comes from new ideas and people with different perspectives.

My endorsement of one candidate is not a condemnation of his/her rival, but reflective of my opinion that it is time for an infusion of new management and ideas to change the “corporate culture” of the sheriff’s department.

One candidate, given his broad experience, has the right résumé for the job. I endorse Bill Prim for McHenry County sheriff.
