In this photo provided by Ed Bachrach, authorities surround a vehicle on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, Sunday, March 16, 2014. Authorities in the Chicago suburb of Harvey, where the chase began, say the vehicle matched the description of one belonging to man wanted in connection with a murder in Georgia. The police chase ended in a crash, and a standoff between police and the suspect ensued, shutting down parts of the busy roadway along Lake Michigan to traffic and pedestrian for hours.

CHICAGO — A judge has denied bond for a 44-year-old man facing charges for holding police at bay for more than eight hours during a chase and standoff on Chicago's iconic Lake Shore Drive.

The Cook County judge said Tuesday afternoon that Joseph Felton would have to remain in custody as he awaits trial.

Police say the University Park man is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, fleeing police and being a fugitive.

Felton was arrested late Sunday, hours after his car crashed in Chicago following a chase from a nearby suburb.

The chase injured four people, although none of their injuries were life-threatening.

Felton is also wanted in connection with a murder earlier this month in Hampton, Ga., about 30 miles from Atlanta.

Police say Felton was armed with knives.
