CHICAGO (AP) — A 40-year-old suspended doctor from the Chicago area has pleaded guilty to a federal charge that he distributed prescription drugs in exchange for sex.

In his plea deal, 40-year-old Joshua D. Baron of Forest Park admitted he traded thousands of doses of medication to 16 individuals for sex between 2006 and 2011.That included more than 1,800 pills of Norco and more than 1,700 Adderall pills.

The U.S. attorney's office in Chicago says none of the individuals were ever Baron's patients, nor did they ever ask him about medical issues. He voluntarily surrendered his medical license in 2011.

Baron remains free as he awaits sentencing on June 30. He faces a maximum 20-year prison term.

A message seeking comment from Baron's attorney wasn't immediately returned Friday evening.
