Don’t apologize for success

To the Editor:

Bruce Rauner was just elected to run for governor as a Republican, and we already are being told by Gov. Pat Quinn that we shouldn’t vote for him, in part, because he is wealthy.

Bruce Rauner is a self-made billionaire. I would call him very successful.

I can remember a time when America used to pride itself on success. Now, as it was with Mitt Romney, success is something that wealthy people need to apologize for. Would he be a better candidate if he were broke?

How sad that we no longer celebrate success, but, rather, seek to demonize it.
