Fishing fair to be held at three conservation areas

Published: Wednesday, April 2, 2014 11:00 a.m. CDT

To herald the start of trout fishing season, families can bone up on their casting and knot tying techniques.

The Family Fishing Fun Fair will be held at three locations Saturday throughout the McHenry County Conservation District:

• 7 to 9 a.m. at the 4-acre pond at Rush Creek Conservation Area in Harvard,

• 10 a.m. to noon at the 2-acre pond at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock and

• 1 to 3 p.m. at the 1-acre pond near the west entrance of Fel-Pro RRR Conservation Area in Cary.

District biologists and fishing experts will guide children 16 and under through a "put and take" rainbow trout fishing experience. Additional on-shore activities will be available for the whole family.

A limited amount of equipment will be available for use as well as free bait, fishing maps and other giveways.

No registration required.

For more information, call Prairieview Education Center at (815) 459-5779. Go to the fishing page at www.MCCDistrict.org for additional district fishing locations and information.
