CRYSTAL LAKE – A 17-year-old bicyclist was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday for injuries she sustained in a crash with a car.

The teen, who was not identified, had injuries that were not life-threatening. Her bike was run over and she was ejected to the pavement, Crystal Lake police said.

According to police, she was riding a bike about 5:53 p.m. on Westport Ridge at Ackman Road when she entered the path of a 2006 Lexus driven by 20-year-old Emily Schlimm, who had the right of way.

Schlimm was uninjured and no citations were issued.

The teen was taken by Flight For Life to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Traffic was diverted on Ackman Road for about 2 1/2 hours as emergency crews tended to the injuries, investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
