To the Editor:
“Give me your tired, your poor. Your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. ... Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door,” Statue of Liberty song.
“All men .. are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights ... life, liberty and pursuit of happiness,” Declaration of Independence Preamble.
“Promote the general welfare,” U.S. Constitution Preamble.
Really! I don’t see these idealistic qualities that made America great today. Instead we are full of words, saying get rid of the lazy, tired, poor masses. Kill the homeless in New Mexico.
Our door is closed to immigrants, and all those working for meager salaries where the corporations are worth hundreds of millions of dollars, with executives never stepping foot in the working place and hundreds of thousands make the same by buying stock in companies that have hardworking people.
Forget about God. He does nothing for profit. This is the United States.
