McHENRY – An educational program on booster seats is being offered by the McHenry Police Department as part of a grant-funded campaign to increase the use of booster seats.

The $1,000 grant is one of 51 distributed by the Illinois Department of Transportation this spring as part of the Boost Your Big Kid campaign.

Booster seats reduce the risk of serious injury by 45 percent for children ages four to eight, according to a news release.

Families interested in attending the educational program can contact Commander Laura King at 815-363-2218 or lking@ci.mchenry.il.us for more information.

Attendees may be eligible to receive a new booster seat for their child.
