Huntley coach Manning moving on

Published: Tuesday, April 22, 2014 10:07 p.m. CDT

Huntley is about to lose its most successful boys basketball coach in school history.

Red Raiders players confirmed that head coach Marty Manning held a meeting with players Tuesday afternoon and told them he was leaving. In Manning’s eight seasons as coach, Huntley was 162-68.

Windy City Basketball tweeted Tuesday afternoon that Manning will be the new head coach at Schaumburg. Manning has roots in the Mid-Suburban League, having graduated from Hoffman Estates.

Huntley won five regional titles, three in the last four seasons, under Manning. The Raiders also have won four consecutive Fox Valley Conference Valley Division titles.

Huntley athletic director Michelle Jakubowski was asked about Manning and said, “You’ll have to talk to Marty about that.”

Manning declined comment.

The District 211 school board meets Thursday night, but no list of teachers and coaches to be approved was available on the online agenda.
