CRYSTAL LAKE – Plastics products maker AptarGroup reported record quarterly revenues Thursday.

AptarGroup's first-quarter reported sales rose 9 percent to $676 million, up from $618 million a year a ago. Changes in currency exchange rates did not have a significant effect on sales growth, a news release from AptarGroup said.

Sales in the Pharma division rose 15 percent year over year. Beauty + Home sales were up 8 percent, and Food + Beverage sales were up 6 percent.

"We are pleased to report an excellent first quarter with balanced core sales growth across each segment, market and geographic region," President and CEO Stephen Hagge said in a news release. " Our Pharma segment had another outstanding performance with particularly strong demand from the consumer health care and prescription drug markets."

AptarGroup's reported first-quarter earnings per share rose 11 percent to 71 cents per share, up from 64 cents a year ago.

"Looking to the second quarter, we expect broad-based demand for our innovative dispensing solutions to continue across each of our business segments and drive growth over the prior year," Hagge said.
