Developmental disability self-advocay event planned

MCHENRY – Advocates In Motion, a Pioneer Center for Human Services client-led group, is hosting a community advocacy event May 29.

The event will feature guest speaker Kevin Casey, director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities for the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Attendees will watch a presentation by Advocates In Motion on self-advocacy, themed “Project Independence,” then listen as Director Kevin Casey speaks on current topics.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the event. Refreshments will be available.

The event runs from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. May 29 and will be in the Community Room at Pioneer Center for Community Mental Health, 4100 Veterans Parkway, McHenry. Individuals interested in attending may RSVP by May 15 to Jan Trebing at 815-759-7176 or jtrebing@pioneercenter.org.
