WOODSTOCK – A former swim instructor and sex offender returned to McHenry County Jail on Friday after failing to register his address with authorities.

Rock J. Burman, 24, of McHenry, previously was convicted of sexually abusing two children he coached at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center – Crystal Lake.

For that charge, he was sentenced to 180 days in jail, and was required to register as a sex offender. The victims were 8 and 9 years old at the time of the incidents in March 2010.

According to the latest criminal complaint, Burman lived in McHenry for more than three days without notifying authorities of his address.

He was immediately remanded Friday and was sentenced to 14 days in jail. With credit for time served and day for day credit, he will be released April 29, after which he'll serve a year of conditional discharge. He also was ordered to pay a $250 fine.

The plea agreement was accepted by McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather.

The victims in the sex case told a parent that after a lesson Burman had touched him, and a second came forward after police began contacting families of Burman's other students, authorities have said.
