Prep Roundup: Nick Lahrman's HR in 9th lifts McHenry over D-C

Nick Lahrman hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday to help the McHenry baseball team beat Dundee-Crown, 9-8, in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play. 

The Warriors (13-3 overall, 6-1 FVC Valley) trailed by four heading into the bottom of the seventh but tied the score to send it into extra innings. Lahrman was 2 for 4 with the home run, a double and three RBIs.

Jack Glosson was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Mike Borst hit two doubles and scored twice for the Warriors.

Nick Munson hit a home run for the Chargers and had two RBIs. Riley Alvarado and Brett Johnson both added two RBIs for D-C (10-8, 7-1). 

CL South 8, Jacobs 5: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (8-6, 5-4) scored four runs in the first inning and held on to win in FVC Valley play. Casey Oliver was 3 for 3 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, and Ryan Hetherington was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs for South. Dakota Siwula added a home run.

Ben Murray was 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Grant Kale added two RBIs for the Golden Eagles (14-7, 8-1). 

Johnsburg 13, Woodstock North 3: At Johnsburg, BJ Garcia was 3 for 4 with three doubles and five RBIs to lead the Skyhawks (7-9, 4-4) to the FVC Fox Division victory. Collin Ridout added a home run and three RBIs.

Javier Lares was 2 for 3 for the Thunder (3-10, 0-6) with two RBIs. 

Cary-Grove 2, Grayslake North 0: At Cary, Nick Franz pitched a four-hit shutout for the Trojans (11-8, 6-3 FVC Valley) in FVC crossover play. Larkin Hanselmann had a double. 

Grayslake Central 8, CL Central 4: At Grayslake, Matt Decoste was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI ,and Riley Popell added two RBIs for Crystal Lake Central (3-13, 2-7) in an FVC Fox loss. 

Richmond-Burton 4, Harvard 0: At Richmond, the Rockets (10-6, 6-2) won in Big Northern Conference East Division play. Mike Kaska pitched a shutout, allowing seven hits and striking out 10. Kaska hit a two-run home run, and Jake Tiso added a triple.

Peyton Schneider was 1 for 4 with a double for the Hornets (4-7, 2-5).

Marian Central 7, Aurora Central Catholic 5: At Woodstock, Zach Hoijer and Cole Bokowy each hit a home run to lead the Hurricanes (4-8, 3-6) to the Suburban Christian Conferece Blue Division victory. Hoijer had two RBIs, two runs scored and a double to go along with his home run. 

BOYS TENNIS

Lake Zurich 6, Cary-Grove 1: At Lake Zurich, Devin McDonough picked up the lone win for the Trojans, at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 7-5, in the nonconference dual meet. Kevin Maas lost in three sets at No. singles, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.

Johnsburg 4, Marengo 1: At Johnsburg, Joe Nikolai and Chris Schmidt won at No. 1 doubles to lead the Skyhawks (2-7) to the nonconference victory. Tommy Moore added a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Marengo's win came at No. 1 singles, where Nathan Karsten won, 7-5, 6-4. 

GIRLS SOCCER

Glenbard West 3, Dundee-Crown 2: At the Lake Park Tournament in Roselle, Franki Scarpelli and Jen Letheby had goals for D-C (2-5-3) and Isabel Miranda made seven saves in the loss. 

CL South 1, South Elgin 1: At the Prairie Ridge Invitational in Crystal Lake, the Gators (7-2-2) scored on an own goal by South Elgin in the second half to earn the tie. Jaclyn Przybylski made six saves for Crystal Lake South. 

Prairie Ridge 7, Proviso East: At Prairie Ridge Invitational in Crystal Lake, the Wolves (7-5) scored five second-half goals to pull away and win at their own tourney. Erin Ginsberg scored two goals, and Erica Walsh and Lexi Peterson each added a goal. 

SOFTBALL

Marengo 4, Loyola 3: At Marengo, the Indians held on to win in nonconference play. Mariah Dionne pitched seven innings without giving up an earned run and struck out 14. She also led Marengo (12-6) with two RBIs. Taylor Carlson added a run scored and a stolen base. 

Huntley 16, Hampshire 9: At Hampshire, the Red Raiders (9-7) scored six runs in the last two innings to come from behind and win in FVC crossover play. Megan Baczewski was 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run and three RBIs. Angela Tribuzio was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, and Katie Conklin added a double and four RBIs. 

Aly Snider was 2 for 3 for the Whip-Purs (12-8) with a home run and four RBIs. 

Johnsburg 10, Dundee-Crown 2: At Johnsburg, the Skyhawks (2-12) won in the FVC crossover game. Erin Pusateri was 2 for 4 with a run scored , a double and three RBIs and Kendall Huemann and Morgan Post each had two hits and a RBI. D-C is 2-7-1.

Grayslake North 15, Woodstock North 5: At Grayslake, Kellie Smith had three RBIs as the Thunder (1-10, 0-5) fell in FVC Fox play. Rachael Vela and Kristin Brenner each added two hits.
