JOHNSBURG – Rain pushed back the establishment of a detour around Johnsburg Road construction.

If weather permits, eastbound Johnsburg Road and southbound Chapel Hill Road traffic will be detoured between Spring Grove Road and Fairview Avenue starting Tuesday.

Like the detour set up last year, the construction zone will be limited to one direction traffic.

The project includes the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Johnsburg Road, St. Johns Avenue and Chapel Hill Road. Sidewalks, decorative roadway lighting, park benches and trash bins will also be installed on both sides of Johnsburg Road.

The work is a continuation of last summer's widening of Johnsburg Road from Route 31 to just west of the St. Johns Avenue and Chapel Hill Road intersection to three lanes with one lane in each direction and a center lane for turning.
