Anonymous tipster gets $400 reward

CARY – An anonymous tipster received a $400 reward for providing information that led to the arrest of a Cary woman and a boy on drug charges.

The tip indicated that the woman was growing marijuana in the basement of her East James Way home, according to a news release.

Rachel A. Maloney, 44, of Cary, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

She was sentenced May 6 to a year of probation.

The boy, whose age was not released, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
