Boys prep roundup: Johnsburg baseball tops R-B

The Johnsburg baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk off with a 5-4 victory against Richmond-Burton in nonconference play at Johnsburg. 

The Skyhawks  (12-11) were down 4-3 heading into the seventh, before Alec Graef won the game on a sacrifice fly. Collin Ridout was 2 for 3 in the game with two home runs and three RBIs.

Ridout has four home runs and nine RBIs over his past three games, and according to Johnsburg coach Sam Lesniak batting around .500 for the year.

Erich Zawacki added two hits and an RBI for Johnsburg.

Mike Kaska had a double and two RBIs and Joe Dittmar added a double and an RBI for the Rockets (12-9).

Crystal Lake South 12, Rockford Auburn 0 (5 Inn.): At Crystal Lake, the Gators (11-11) scored five runs in the first inning and seven runs in the third inning for the nonconference win. Paul Wille was 1 for 2 with two runs score, a double and two RBIs and Andrew Swiatly added two RBIs and a double. 

Alden-Hebron19, Schaumburg Christian 2 (5 inn.): At Schaumburg, the Giants (14-13) won in nonconference play. Jasper Olivarez was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI and two runs scored and Trevor Redlin added three RBIs. John Judson was 2 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and three RBIs for A-H. 

BOYS TENNIS

McHenry 4, Johnsburg 3: At McHenry, Colon Condon won at No. 1 singles to lead the Warriors (6-9) to the FVC Crossover win. Nick Higgin and Jacob Maher added a victory at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 6-2.

Tommy Moore won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3, for the Skyhawks. 

Crystal Lake South 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Nick Thome won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2, to lead the Gators (11-3) to the FVC crossover win. Kyle Devlin and Joe Baietto added a win at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-0. 

Cary-Grove 6, Huntley 1: At Cary, Kevin Maas won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 to lead the Trojans (14-6, 3-3 FVC Valley) to the FVC Valley Division win. Evan Jensen added a victory at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1.

The Red Raiders' lone win came at No. 1 doubles, where Jake Grabner and Matt Frederick won in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Crystal Lake Central 5, Hampshire 2: At Hampshire, the Tigers won in FVC Fox Division play. Brad Graves won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and Brad Phoenix and Ethan St. John added a No. 2 doubles victory.

Jacob Dahlberg and Chad West won at No. 1 doubles, 6-0,6-2 for the Whip-Purs. Elisha Hougland added a win at No. 1 singles, after Josh Pudlo retired in the third set leading 3-1. 

Marian Central 4, Aurora Central Catholic, Charles Shin won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3 to lead the Hurricanes to the SCC victory. Owen Rost and Joe Herba added a victory at No. 1 doubles. 

Lacrosse

Cary-Grove 18, Prairie Ridge 1: At Cary, the Trojans (9-5, 6-0 FVC) claimed the Fox Valley Championship with the win. Ian Houston scored seven goals and Alec Johnson had four goals and four assists to lead the way. Jake Ladewig added had three goals and three assists and Dylan Cost made five saves for C-G.
