Harsh winter means roofers busy this spring

NORMAL (AP) — Illinois roofers say they're having a busy spring because of damage caused by November storms and a harsh winter.

Mark Heimann is vice president of Normal-based roofing company Keith R. Miller. He tells the (Bloomington) Pantagraph (http://tinyurl.com/k2k7usn ) that wind and hail in November damaged a lot of roofs. Then the ice, snow and cold this winter did in some roofs completely.

The mid-November storms brought hail and high winds, as well as tornadoes to several central Illinois communities.

Bob Morrow of Quality Constructions & Exteriors in Lincoln says the winter snow revealed roof problems that many homeowners hadn't noticed previously. He expects his business this year to double.

Roofers say many out-of-town contractors are knocking on doors looking for work. But they say November's storms left behind years of work.
