JOHNSBURG – The company that handles garbage and recycling pick-up for the village of Johnsburg will not be emptying non-compliant containers starting next week.

The village sent out an email alert and notifications to the affected property owners following an audit by the company, Waste Management, into the village's routes and service, which found several residences are using containers that are larger that the required 35 gallons.

Containers that are larger than 35-gallons have to be rented from Waste Management, which can be reached at 800-796-9696.

For those that occasionally need to put more trash out to the curb than fits in the container, stickers can be purchased at the Johnsburg Village Hall. One sticker is required per additional 35-gallon container or bag.
