Cary man charged with dealing marijuana

CARY – A 19-year-old Cary man was arrested on drug charges after police said they found about 80 grams of marijuana packaged for resale, marijuana oil, drug paraphernalia and packaging materials in the car he was driving.

Kyle R. Opfer, 19, of Cary was charged with unlawful delivery of marijuana, a class 3 felony; possession of marijuana, a class 4 felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.

The Intelligence Led Policing Unit conducted a traffic stop on the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer about 6:30 p.m. on May 23 in the area of Silver Lake Road and James Way in Cary, according to a news release.

Police said a K-9 unit searched the car and discovered the marijuana and other items, the release said.

The vehicle was also seized.

Opfer was released from McHenry County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
