WOODSTOCK – The monthly recycling drive of the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will take place in Woodstock this month.
The organization alternates between McHenry and Woodstock for the monthly drives. It will be held this month from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Farm Bureau building, 1102 McConnell Road, Woodstock.
The Defenders accept a long list of items, some of which are not collected during curbside pickup, according to a news release from the organization. Attendees are encouraged to recycle in order to offset recycling costs.
Household batteries, car batteries, fluorescent tubes, clean Styrofoam, VHS and cassette tapes, CDs, DVDs, packing peanuts and unpopped bubble wrap are among the items accepted. TVs and computer monitors require a $10 to $35 donation, but anyone who becomes a member of the Defenders at the recycling drive will receive two coupons to waive the fee.
USAgain Clothes Collection System provides a truck for clothing donations, the release said.
There also are free electronic recycling drop-offs in Crystal Lake and Lakewood.
