Community pride

To the Editor:

I was fortunate enough to witness (and be a part of) a great sense of community recently in our little town of McHenry.

A little dog named Buster got loose from his owner in the Jewel parking lot and was running between that parking lot and across the street to the bank. Several times Buster ran on to Route 120. People were stopped on Route 120 in the middle of the road stopping traffic so he wouldn’t get hit. There were over 10 of us out there trying to capture him.

Finally, we all got smart and circled him. While we distracted him, another gentleman swooped up behind him and captured him and put him in the loving arms of his rightful owner.

What a proud day. Great job to everyone who worked to capture Buster.
