Pay CLBA kids

Published: Sunday, June 22, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

It is hard enough for boys and girls to get jobs these days. It is even harder when the kids work and don’t get paid for it.

There are literally dozens of middle school and high school kids who were scorekeepers and referees for the Crystal Lake Basketball Association who haven’t been paid for their work during this past basketball season. This amounts to thousands of dollars that our kids worked hard for to pay for food, gas, cars and college savings.

Mr. Bob McIntyre recruited, trained and employed these kids for the whole season, likely knowing that CLBA’s financial circumstances would leave them unpaid for their work.

It has now been more than three months since the basketball season ended.

Enough is enough. It is time for Mr. McIntyre to step up and do the right thing, and get the kids paid in full for all their hard work.
