Chain O' Lakes, Fox River now open for normal boating

The Fox Waterway Agency has lifted all boating restrictions as of 9 a.m. Friday, after no-wake rulings were issued earlier this week, according to the agency's website.

All zones of the Chain O' Lakes and Fox River are now open to normal boating.

The no-wake ruling for Zone A and B — from River Mouth in Pistakee Lake down to Route 62 Dam — was issued June 22. The ruling for Zone C — Chain O’ Lakes from Pistakee Lake North to the Wisconsin State Line — was issued June 24, according to the website.

The rulings were issued due to heavy rainfall in the area over the last couple weeks, said Ron Barker, Exeutive Director of the Fox Waterway Agency.

Normal boating can commence, but boaters should watch for floating debris, Barker said.

"When we have high water, logs and trees wash off the shoreline and are floating in the water," Barker explained. "We're out there actively pursuing it, but we just want everyone to be vigilant and keep an eye out."
