Island Lake Culver’s to host blood drive

Published: Thursday, July 10, 2014 4:30 p.m. CDT

ISLAND LAKE – The Island Lake Culver’s, 203 E. State Road, will host a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the restaurant’s parking lot as part of the Wisconsin-based chain’s 30th anniversary this month.

“Summer is when the need for blood is greatest,” said Culver’s Island Lake franchisee Sean Sullivan.

The Island Lake drive is one of 30 LifeSource mobile blood drives planned at suburban Culver’s locations this month, according to a news release. It is the restaurant chain’s second year in promoting its “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” campaign, which last year brought in 1,000 pints of blood. All participating blood donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Fresh Frozen Custard.

According to LifeSource, summers are difficult on the area’s blood supply because many of its routine donors are vacationing or are busy with family plans.

Pre-register at the Island Lake Culver’s or visit www.lifesource.org.
