McHENRY – A McHenry resident is a million dollars richer after recently getting lucky with an Illinois Lottery scratch-off ticket.

The unidentified resident chose a Fabulous Fortune lottery ticket during a regular morning routine, used a “lucky quarter” to scratch it and instantly won $1 million, according to a news release from the Illinois Lottery.

The release also states the winner is an employee of the U.S. Postal Service.

Illinois Lottery spokeswoman Micaela Furyk said she could not release the identity of the winner.

The winner will be introduced during a news conference at 11 a.m. Friday in McHenry, where she also will be presented with an oversized check.

McHenry postmaster Thomas Merle said there was a lottery-winning employee at the McHenry Post Office, but she recently retired.

The Fabulous Fortune game allows players the chance to win money by matching “Your Number” to any of the “Winning Numbers.”

The most recent winner is not alone in McHenry big wins, according to information provided by Furyk.

A $10,000 winning Powerball ticket for the June 11 drawing was sold at Meijer, 2253 N. Richmond Road; a $750,000 winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket for the Jan. 28 drawing was sold at Shamrock Convenient Food and Liquor, 4105 Shamrock Lane; and a $1 million winning Powerball ticket for the June 12, 2013, drawing was sold at 7-Eleven, 3808 W. Elm St.
