RICHMOND – Watlow Electric Manufacturing Co. is asking the community for help in gathering historical information, stories, photos and artifacts ahead of the company’s 100th anniversary this fall.

The Watlow Electric Manufacturing Co. site in Richmond (formally the Claud S. Gordon Co.) will be celebrating its 100th year in business. Although Watlow bought the Claud S. Gordon Co. in the mid 1980s, the business has remained intact since its founding in 1914 in Chicago, according to a news release from the company.

To commemorate the 100-year milestone, team members and retirees will celebrate with an event in early October in Richmond.

Ahead of the anniversary, the company is asking community members to share historical information about the company, stories about how the company has affected their family, stories about working at the company and photos and other artifacts.

Stories, photos and artifacts can be mailed to Judi Derickson, 5710 Kenosha St., Richmond, IL 60071. They also can be dropped off in person. Those who want the items returned after the event should include a name and address. The deadline for submission is Aug. 18.

For information, contact Judi Derickson at 815-678-1327, jderickson@watlow.com or gdn100thanniversarycommittee@watlow.co.
