Patriot Run success

To the Editor:

It was with extreme pleasure that the McHenry County Patriot Run committee put on the inaugural event to raise much needed funds for our county’s veterans.

As the veterans have helped protect our country and risked their lives by doing so, it is only right that we do something to help pay them back for their dedication.

On June 22, McHenry County College hosted this high profile event on a foggy, humid morning. Over 60 volunteers showed up to join the almost 400 registered participants who either did the mile or 5K that wrapped around the campus, down Ridgefield Road and back by way of the conservation district bike trail.

This was a fantastic family celebration that will become a tradition for years to come. This year the event netted $33,500.

We thank our fantastic sponsors: Sage Products, Vince Foglia, Crystal Lake Chrysler Jeep, Centegra Health System, Advocate Good Shepherd, BMO Harris, Home State Bank, Stan’s Office, Dorian Gray, JA Frate, McHenry County College, CL Graphics, Emtech, Service Plus Insurance, Fox Valley Dental, McHenry County Community Foundation, Black Diamond, American Community Bank, the Northwest Herald, Fox Valley Dental and In Sync Systems.

Noteworthy was the Honor Flag display put on by the Veteran Network Committee.

To learn more about or be a part of next year’s event, please go to our Facebook page or call 815-459-1773 and connect with us. It does the heart good to participate in worthwhile activities. Do it now.
