Concert to aid Cary-area woman needing transplants

Published: Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 11:10 p.m. CDT

A benefit concert is scheduled to help a Cary-area woman preparing to undergo a triple organ transplant.

Julie Magnini, who lives outside of Cary, is preparing for a stomach, intestine and pancreas transplant, according to a news release. Magnini and her husband, Marty, band director at Cary-Grove High School and of the Crystal Lake Community Band, have been making trips to the Cleveland Clinic for several months. For six months after the surgery, Julie Magnini will have to live within 10 minutes of the hospital.

The event will include a 50/50 raffle and auctions, including a $2,000 guitar donated by Dr. Woods in Fox River Grove, and rounds of golf, said event organizer Charlie Sedivec. There will be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar as well.

Cary-Grove AMVETS is sponsoring the event. All of the money raised will go directly to the Magninis. All donations are tax-deductible, the news release said.

The event is scheduled for 2 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 at the D’Andrea Banquet Center at 4419 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake.

Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for students and can be purchased in advance as space is limited at Cary Performing Arts Centre and Century 21 Sketchbook in Cary, or Piano Trends in Crystal Lake. For information or to donate, call 847-630-4328.
