Collision in CL hospitalizes 1

CRYSTAL LAKE – One person was taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center after a head-on collision near the intersection of Route 31 and Tek Drive about 9:08 p.m. Tuesday.

James R. Schaid, 62, of 4814 Strong Road, was driving north in a 2001 Cadillac DTS on Route 31 when he drifted into the southbound lane and crashed into a 2002 BMW 745li driven by Louis Lambros of 1005 N. Knollwood Drive, Palatine.

Lambros had one passenger in the car.

Schaid was taken to the hospital, while Lambros was treated at the scene and released. Schaid was issued a citation for improper lane use.

The southbound lanes of Route 31 were closed for about 35 minutes between Three Oaks Road and Tek drive after the incident.
